Accessibility Policy

StatsBet is committed to making our platform accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

Our Commitment

We believe everyone should be able to access sports analytics and information regardless of ability. We are committed to an ongoing effort to ensure our website is usable by as many people as possible. This includes users who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, speech recognition software, and alternative input devices.

Semantic HTML

StatsBet is built using semantic HTML5 elements. Pages use proper heading hierarchies (h1 through h6), landmark regions (header, nav, main, footer), and meaningful element types (lists, tables, forms) to provide structure that assistive technologies can interpret correctly.

Data tables include appropriate headers and scope attributes. Interactive elements use native HTML controls wherever possible to ensure built-in accessibility support.

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements on StatsBet — including navigation links, buttons, form inputs, and dropdowns — are accessible via keyboard. Users can navigate the site using the Tab key to move between focusable elements, Enter or Space to activate controls, and Escape to close overlays or menus.

Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements to help keyboard users identify their current position on the page.

Visual Accessibility

We design with contrast and readability in mind:

  • Color contrast: Text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (at least 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Color is not the only indicator: We do not rely solely on color to convey information. Text labels, icons, and patterns are used alongside color coding (such as in rating badges and form status).
  • Responsive design: The site is fully responsive and supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Reduced motion: We respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query and reduce or disable animations for users who have indicated a preference for less motion.

Screen Reader Support

We test our site with popular screen readers including NVDA and VoiceOver. We use ARIA attributes where native HTML semantics are insufficient, including:

  • ARIA labels: Applied to icons, buttons, and interactive elements that lack visible text labels.
  • ARIA live regions: Used for dynamic content updates (such as live scores) so screen readers announce changes automatically.
  • Alt text: Images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes to be skipped by screen readers.

Known Limitations

We acknowledge that some areas of the site may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Specifically:

  • Some third-party embedded content (such as bookmaker widgets) may not be fully accessible, as we do not control their implementation.
  • Complex statistical tables and charts may present challenges for screen reader users. We are working to provide text alternatives for these visualizations.
  • Blog content imported from external sources may contain accessibility issues that we address on an ongoing basis.

Report an Accessibility Issue

If you encounter any accessibility barriers on StatsBet, we want to hear about it. Please contact us with:

  • The URL of the page where you experienced the issue
  • A description of the problem
  • The assistive technology and browser you were using (if applicable)

We will review all reports and work to address accessibility issues promptly.
